Project Safe Nieghborhood
The City of Erie intends to utilize the essential strategies of the federal Project Safe Neighborhoods program to address the increasing incidences of criminal activity involving guns, and juvenile delinquency in the City of Erie. We are developing a realistic, outcome based five year plan to address the problems occurring within the area that comprises the center city region, which is also the proposed federal target community.
The City of Erie has been operating with a reduced number of police officers due to budgetary issues caused by a reduced tax base and an increasingly aging population. The additional projects, in terms of increased law enforcement and proactive programming to reduce juvenile delinquency, will be of great benefit to the entire Erie county region.
The additional funds will be leveraged to obtain additional state, local, and federal dollars in matching revenue proposals submitted to our representatives on all levels of government representing Erie. To learn more.......

The Erie Weed and Seed program has solidified its position in the target area by adopting a more structured approach, and by introducing new and cost effective ideas that are inclusive of a wider range of people.....

Weed and Seed, is a community-based strategy sponsored by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), is an innovative, comprehensive multiagency approach to law enforcement, crime prevention, and community revitalization. Community Capacity Development Office (CCDO) oversees the Weed and Seed initiative.
