In the Press
City of Erie officials are using a local program to cut down on the increasing instances of youth violence.
Erie’s Weed and Seed program is investing money to get kids out of their neighborhoods and into the community.
The money taken out of the delinquency prevention fund will be used to take inner city kids to places such as Waldameer and the Erie Zoo.
Officials with Weed and Seed say it's a way to expose these children to others throughout the area.
"A lot of the children never leave their neighborhoods so they don't get a chance to interact with other children from other places so they tend to believe only in what's happening in their neighborhood," says Steph Chatman.
